Got a great preteen camp this year. The 2009 Kidz Kamp will be at Trinity Pines on July 6-10. Robert Burkhart will returning with great music as well as other leaders. The camp is the work and passion of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Robinson, Texas. It is getting real close to camp so get your registrations in.
It’s like it comes around every summer. For a church the size of Park Lake an important event each summer is preteen camp. It is, however, also one of the things that can easily slip up on us. For a few years there we came up to the last minute securing counselors and kids signing up. Of course it was easy deciding on a camp. Our association had a great camp. We knew it was going to be top notch and plans were always done well and early. All a church had to do was jump on board.
Over the past six years I have seen our association’s youth and preteen camps quietly disappear. There are several reasons I think this happened and it seems to be the trend for association based summer camps. Whatever the reasons it leaves most small to medium churches looking for a camp for thier kids.
Finding a preteen camp has been difficult. Not that there are not tons of camps for preteens out their. I am sure I could get 100 recomendations. It is more finding one that has their act together enough to make you feel comfortable and is reasonably priced. Our youth minister has the same issue. Camps do not have their materials and plans ready before schools are out or they are unreachable behind a slick, but slim website.
Park Lake preteens are attending Kidz Kamp this year. It is lead by the people who used to lead our CORWAC Preteen camp before it could not negotiate calendar dates with our local encampment. Yes, they have a website that is one page, but it is backed up by a Facebook group where you can see others going and supporting the camp and you can communicate with people.
